System Settings and Email

The purpose of this module is to customize your mail settings and configure ANGEL to send a copy of all system-level email (i.e. emails from the ANGEL systems administrator) to an Internet email account.

The System Settings also allows you select your user level of expertise based on your comfort level with the ANGEL system, and to specify your local drive settings. However, it is recommended that you leave these settings as is.

This tutorial will only focus on the Mail Settings portion of the System Settings. You can learn about the Course Roster.

Log into ANGEL and click on the Preferences icon:

You will then receive the ANGEL Preferences. Click on the System Settings link:

Mail Settings
At the bottom portion of the interface is the Mail Settings section.

Type in the Forwarding Address field the full email address where you want your ANGEL mail to be forwarded.

Then, select the desired Forwarding Mode from the drop-down list.

Note: In order to ensure you receive emails from the ANGEL system, select one of the options that forwards ANGEL emails to your Internet email account.

Click Save to finish.

Mail Preferences

The Preferences feature of the mail box view allows the user to define the message view preferences, signatures, editing options and privacy settings.

To access, enter your mail Inbox and click on the Preferences link located to the right:

You will receive the User Course Mail Preferences interface:

The following table lists the available fields for mail preferences. Fill in the fields appropriately:

Message Format

Choose Plain Text or HTML for how you want to format messages.

Note: If you choose Plain Text, you cannot set Font Preferences or Font Color

Font Preferences

If you've selected HTML as the message format, choose from Arial, Comic Sans MS, Courier New Tahoma, Times New Roman, or Verdana.

Font Color

If you've selected HTML as the message format, choose Black, Red or Blue

Forward to Internet E-Mail

Select from the following:

Note: In order to ensure you receive emails from the ANGEL system and subscribe to discussion forms, select one of the options that forwards ANGEL emails to your Internet email account. This is required.

*  Do not forward mail (NOT RECOMMENDED)

*  Forward mail and keep as new

*  Forward mail and mark as read

*  Forward mail and delete

Email

Enter an Internet e-mail address where you want the mail forwarded to.

Signature Options

Signatures may be customized for each course. Select Use E-Mail Signatures to begin using the signature option. By selecting Use E-Mail Signatures allows the activation of the Use Course-Specific Signatures so the user can be tailored to each individual course as desired.

Selecting HTML as the
Message Format allows for rich formatting.

Editing Options

Check the box to automatically check your spelling before you send a message.

Privacy Settings

To prevent users who do not share a course with you from sending you Course Mail, check ―Don‘t show my name in public search.

Click Save to finish.
